Thousands of
sausages cooked to help Riding for the Disabled
Golden Grove Lions Club members have sold an
estimated 10,000 sausages to pay for their share of a $15,000 horse float for
Northern Area Riding for the Disabled Australia (RDA) at the corner of Whites
and Ryans Roads, Bolivar. The float was a real need for Northern RDA. The Lions
knew that Northern Area RDA deserved good equipment such as the float to meet
the needs of their dedicated volunteers, their clients and their horses. The
only float that Northern RDA has to transport their horses to competition venues
was in need of such extensive repairs and renovation that it was as economic to
get a new one.
On Saturday
31st. October, Northern Area RDA is holding a celebratory competition
and lunch at their grounds. On this day, the Golden Grove Lions will officially
handover the float and cook yet another BBQ for members and guests of both
groups. RDA members are looking forward to “showing their stuff” in the
competition and the Lions members are looking forward to seeing where their hard
work is going to help.
The programme of events is due to start at 10 am. and lunch will be at 1 pm.
Golden Grove
Lions were supported by Australian Lions Foundation (ALF) and by Parafield
Bunnings. ALF gave a grant and Bunnings have assisted The Lions by allowing them
to sell sausage sizzles at their Parafield store.
Golden Grove
Lions have members who are also volunteers for RDA and the Special Olympics. The
following article inspired these members to get their Lions Club to support
these people.
As well as
assisting RDA, Golden Grove have also supported the Special Olympics “One in a
Thousand “campaign by donating $ 1000 to the Special Olympics.
