2012-13 Lions International Peace Poster Contest   89 KBytes     The Winning Entry is as follows: Student:      Salvador Stephenson Club:           The Lions Club of Stansbury Dalrymple. I have recently had the great pleasure of judging this year's entries in the Peace Poster Contest - to find our District 201 C1 Winner. Apparently this is the second year in a row that Stansbury Dalrymple has had the District Winner, so there is a challenge out there to all other clubs. Next year you need to get even more entries in and fight to 'knock them off' the top perch.  Joking aside - it is a wonderful result that they not only have won this level 2 years running, but they also had several youth groups entering the contest. The statistics for this year are as follows: Number of Clubs involved: 10 Number of Youth Groups involved: 20 Number of Students involved:  448   Once again, congratulations to Salvador and Stansbury Lions Club, and all my very best wishes in the next level of judging of this Contest. The Lions International Peace Poster Contest was created in 1988 to give young people an opportunity to express their feelings about peace. Since then, more than 1.9 million children from approximately 65 countries have participated in the annual contest. "Imagine Peace" is the theme of the 2012-13 Peace Poster Contest. Lions clubs can sponsor the program in their community for children in local schools or organized, sponsored youth groups. Students, ages 11, 12 or 13 on November 15, are eligible to participate. Through the contest, students are encouraged to visually depict their interpretation of the contest's theme. Entries not meeting deadlines will be disqualified. Contest Deadlines Entries not meeting deadlines will be disqualified. January 15: Kits go on sale from the Club Supplies Sales Department at International Headquarters. October 1: Deadline to purchase kits from the Club Supplies Sales Department at International Headquarters. November 15: Postmark deadline for a club to send one winning poster (per contest sponsored) to the district governor. December 1: Postmark deadline for a Governor to send one winning district poster to multiple district council chairperson. December 1: Postmark deadline for a Governor not belonging to a multiple district to send one winning poster to the Public Relations Department at International Headquarters. December 1: Postmark deadline for a Club not belonging to a district to send one winning entry to the Public Relations Department at International Headquarters. December 15: Postmark deadline for the multiple district council chairperson to send one winning poster to the Public Relations Department at International Headquarters. February 1: International winners notified on or before this date.
