Information regarding Club Public Officers
AS an incorporated body, each Club
is required to have a Public Officer who's responsibility it is to sign legal
papers etc. During the Incoming Officer's Training sessions in May, June 2011,
it became obvious that many Clubs either did not know who their Public Officer
was or wasn't sure whether their Public Officer was still current.
I suggest that if either is the
case, the Club Secretary write to the Officer of Consumer and Business Affairs
(address follows) and enclose a cheque for $39.65 requesting a copy of all
documents lodged at the time of incorporation. You should receive copies of the
following:
-
Standard
form Lions Club Constitution and By-Laws (as lodged at Incorporation)
-
Application
for Registration signed by the then Public Officer of your Club.
-
Statutory
Declaration by the then Public Officer.
-
Certificate
of Incorporation of an Association.
From these
documents, you will be able to determine whether your Club Public Officer
registered with the Office of Consumer and Business Affairs is current.
You will also
receive a pamphlet setting out the responsibilities of the Public Officer. This
information is also available on the Office of Consumer and Business Affairs web
site http://www.ocba.sa.gov.au.
Should an alteration to the Public Officer be required, Form 10 " Notice of
change of public officer or change of address of public officer " is available
from the Office of Consumer and Business Affairs. There is no cost to requesting
this change.

the Office of Consumer and Business Affairs is as follows:
