District Governor Lion David is married to Sue.
District Governor David became a
Lion when he joined the Lions Club of West Beach in 1990. In 1995 he was
elected President, a position he held for four years until 1999.
During his time with the West
Beach Lions Club he took on the position of Chairman of the Lions Channel 7
Personality Quest from 1996 to 1998. In
1997 he was appointed to the District Cabinet as Public Relations Chairman and
District Bulletin editor, positions he held for nine years.
In 1998, David was appointed to
the MD201 Public Relations Committee.
In 2000 he became Chairman of that committee. He retired as Chairman in 2006 having completed two three year
terms. Following his retirement as Chairman, David served on the committee as
coordinator for South Australia/Northern Territory for a further 12 months. In his capacity as Multiple District and
District PR Chairman David served as a member of the organising committee for
the Adelaide 2005 MD201 Convention.
In September 1999 David was
invited to host the “World of Lions” half hour radio programme, on 1197am RPH
Adelaide, a position he still enjoys today.
David transferred to the Lions
Club of Brighton during 2000 and served as secretary in 2001-2002. He has also served as club membership,
nominations and PR Chairman.
He served as Zone Chairman in
2003-2004.
David was appointed to represent
District C2 Lions on ACSO (Association of Community Service Organisations) in
2001 and became Chairman in 2003. As a
result of being Chairman he represented all SA Service Clubs on VMAG (SA
Premier’s Volunteer Ministerial Advisory Group).
In 2004 David assumed
responsibility for answering the C Districts Lions Clubs Info Line.
David has attended 15 District
Conventions and 12 Multiple District Conventions and one International
Convention.
Apart from his Lions interests
David has a passion for Rugby. He is a
former President of his local Rugby Union Football Club, Woodville, and Deputy
President of the South Australian Rugby Union.
David is an agent for a New
Zealand company that designs & manufactures equipment for the blind and
those with a vision impairment.
David is married to Sue, a self
employed freelance beauty therapist, who supports him fully in his Lions
endeavours. David and Sue live at
Grange with their 12 year old Birman cat, Michou. They have four children and eleven
grandchildren and one great grandchild.
