After
the very successful Lymphoedema screenings in the Riverland in 2005
& 2009, Northern Territory, Mt Gambier and Naracoorte, further
screenings are proposed for Broken Hill and Mildura.
The
original motion from the Lions Club of Berri expired on the 30th
June 2008. At the Broken Hill convention in 2008 the Lions Club
of Noarlunga Morphett Vale moved a motion extending the project
for 1 year.
Many People in the
community know little about the incidence of Lymphoedema, the extent of
personal discomfort associated with Lymph Node damage, and the enormous
costs, both personally and to the community for subsequent treatment. A
commitment from the LIONS of District 201C2 for the “Free Lymphoedema
Screening Project” would put Lions at the forefront of making the community
more aware of the Risks, Solutions, and Preventative Strategies of this
debilitating disease.
