PETER ELLIOTT CLARKE

Peter was born in the first half of last century and began his education in Charlestown (Newcastle). His parents moved to the Dorrigo area where Peter completed his high school education.

After leaving school he commenced work in the finance industry and had 38 years service with the ANZ Bank. He completed his accounting qualification through college at night.

During his Banking career he held many positions and upon entering the Bank's Senior Management level he held senior posts in the Bank's Credit Division including Regional Credit Executive Commercial Banking, Credit Executive Corporate Banking, State Credit Executive Business Banking & Corporate Banking NSW & ACT. His final appointment was State Manager Credit Operations Western Australia.

Peter and Lions Lady Denise were married in 1965 and have two children and three grandchildren. All through his career and during his time with Lion's, Peter has been enthusiastically supported by Lions Lady Denise. Whilstst the children were growing up Peter and Denise were swimming club officials, base ball managers and trainers, soccer managers and trainers, net ball transport officials. On
anyone weekend Peter would be at one end of the Warringah Peninsular and Denise at the other chaperoning some sporting team.

Peter obtained his Bronze Medallion and Instructors Certificate in Surf Life Saving whilst a member of the Terrigal Surf Life Saving Club. Upon moving to Sydney he joined the Manly Life Saving Club (Surf Club). During his 30 + years with Manly he served 4 Years as Secretary 3 years as Treasurer 2 years as Deputy President and 8 months as President.

Upon retiring from the paid work force Peter and Denise moved to Hallidays Point and both took up Bowls, Peter was quickly drafted into the position of Treasurer of Blackhead Bowling Club Limited. A position he held for six years and then 2 years as Deputy Chairman of the Board.

He has been a member of the Lions Club of Hallidays Point for 11 years where he has held many positions including 1st, 2nd & 3rd Vice President, President (President of Excellence Award) and Membership Chairman. Peter has been a member of NI District Cabinet for 4 years and held the positions of Zone Chairman, Cabinet Treasurer, Manager MERL & PR, 1st Vice District Governor and Manager MERL & Membership Chairman. Peter and Denise have attended 5 District Conventions 5 Multiple District Conventions and 1 International Convention.

Peter is a Melvin Jones Fellow and holds a District Governors Star Award and is now our District Governor.
