I have been a Lion for 11 years, during which time I have served as President, Secretary, Bulletin Editor, Membership Chairman, Youth Projects Chairman and Leo Advisor. This is my seventh year on District Cabinet having served in the positions of Convention Chairman, Zone and Leadership Chairman twice, Membership Chairman, in addition to 2nd and 1st Vice District Governor. I have supported my development in the Lions Organization by attending Multiple District Leadership Courses in Brisbane and Melbourne, a Senior Lions Institute in Wellington NZ, as well as attending a Certified Guiding Lions Workshop and receiving my accreditation as a Guiding Lion. I have also attended many District Conventions, 5 Multiple District and 1 International Convention. My teaching career and commitment to serving my community have facilitated my interest in ‘Youth Programs’ within the Lions Organization. I have been actively involved in Leos, Kids Camps, Youth of the Year, Youth Exchange and the Peace Poster Competition. In my endeavor to promote the Leo Program, I have visited many coastal clubs with support and resources. I believe we can meet the needs of our members and welcome family participation. We can also be flexible in our thinking and accommodate the diversity of our members and in our communities. I have been awarded an International President’s Appreciation Certificate, a Melvin Jones Fellowship, a JD Richardson Award and a Harry Hession Bronze Award. I have also received 2 District Governors’ Awards, a District Leo Club Chairman Appreciation Certificate, a Key Membership Award and Club Presidents’ Awards; all of which I am extremely proud of and humbled by. As Membership Chairman and in my Executive Role I have worked hard to enhance membership growth in our District. As Governor, I would encourage clubs to include younger members and to welcome their ideas and participation. I believe experienced Lions should support new members with Orientation and ongoing Mentoring, to ensure Retention. I look forward to working within the GMT ad GLT frameworks to ensure the future development of our District. |
