The Course Deals With:

  •     How to stop a car quickly and safely. Stopping distances routinely improve by 10 to 40 metres. Remarkable when you consider that inches can
        mean a rear end collision.

  •     Vehicle safety including the effect of mismatched tyres and pressures. It is not unusual for one car per session to be rejected as
unroadworthy and four or five being sent to correct their tyre pressures because of anything from 12 to 45lb differences. Qualified mechanics are
         used to assess roadworthiness.

  •     Demonstrating individual reaction time. Routinely, reactions are spread across the entire 25 metre braking grid (range 1-3 seconds - this when
they have been pre warned of an imminent stop).

  •     Demonstrating deficiency in estimating speed and distance. Practical training is given to deal with this.

  •     The implications of air bags and ABS brakes. Drivers are taught proper driving position and braking technique.

  •     Awareness of the physics of collision. Crashed car types on video are often the same as those being used by participants on the day.

  •     The human face of policing. Representatives of the Highway Patrol and Police Youth Liaison Officers participate in the course.

  •     The futility of speeding. Participants learn there is little or no time gained between departure and arrival by exceeding the speed limit. It is also
stressed that by exceeding the speed limit, chances are the destination may never be reached at all!
