Peter Mercer Born in the UK in 1941. Family migrated to Australia in 1953, completed High School Education at Granville. Joined BHP as a Trainee Engineering Surveyor in 1958. and continued service with BHP until 1996 when I left to form my own Project Management and Quality Assurance Consultancy. Retired in 2000 and moved to Port Macquarie. Mavis and I have a son and daughter and a second daughter who adopted us. The three children and their partners have given us eight wonderful grandchildren. Joined Lions at Warrawong, a suburb of Wollongong in 1968. As the result of many transfers with BHP, I have been a member of five different Lions Clubs. I have held every position at Club Board level culminating with being President of Warrawong Club in 1974-75 and Engadine Club in 1991-92. I was a member of District W Cabinet from 1975 to 1980 holding the positions of Zone Chairman, Deputy District Governor and various other District Chairman positions. Transferred to Engadine Club in 1981 and joined the 201N5 Cabinet in 1992 where I served as Zone Chairman and Deputy District Governor in 1992/93 and 93/94. Transferred to Coffs Harbour in 1994 where I became a member of the Coffs Harbour City Pacific Club for two years. Returned to Engadine Club in 1996 and rejoined the District 201N5 Cabinet in 1998 as Cabinet Secretary. I served a two year term from 1999 to 2001 as the Multiple District Cabinet Secretary Training Co-ordinator. Was Convention Chairman District W in 1984-85, Convention Secretary District 201N5 Convention in 2002 and Convention Secretary 201N1 Convention 2007. I have received 30 Club President and District Governor Appreciation awards Received the Harry Jenkins Fellow Award in 1998 from District 201N1 Received a Melvin Jones Fellowship from the Engadine Club in 1997 and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellowship from District 201N5 in 2000. Received Life Membership from the Lions club of Engadine and received personally the International Presidents Leadership Award from International President Kay Fukishima in 2003.
