CONVENTION 2008

Convention 2008 is well on its way. The dates are November 7-9th and we are anticipating great weather and a very good time to be had by the Conventioneers.

The venue will be Riverway in what used to be Thuringowa - now Townsville West - located across the road from Willows Shopping Centre on Ross River Rd corner.
The Convention area is really picturesque along side the river and will be relaxing between the business sessions.

Registrations are planned to start at 4pm on Friday with an Informal BBQ to follow, where we will meet friends both old and new, be introduced to the Miss Popularity entrants and be entertained by some background music.

Saturday we will commence the Convention proceedings, business sessions, Ladies Luncheon etc and Saturday evening will see us back to Riverway for the District Governors Function. Due to the size of the venue which has a capacity of 250, it will be best to book as early as possible.

Transport will be provided on that night only with one pick up and drop off. Times will be arranged to suit most Conventioneers, I’m sure. Bowen Rd motels would be advisable but there is some investigation into Jupiters and Mercure areas as well.

Sunday will start with the Remembrance Ceremony, which is planned for 9am at this time, followed by the remainder of the convention business and speakers. The Convention proceedings will close at lunchtime.

There are no breakfasts planned for either day as yet but that may change; lunches will be available in lunch box style. Discussions are also being held on a BBQ farewell.

The Committee is working hard to ensure that you enjoy the weekend, and go home relaxed and informed. Added attraction will be the Lions Shop where you can purchase products on show and also order from the Lions’ Catalogue. Further information will be available as the Convention draws closer.
