Firstly, “thank you” to the Members of the Lions Club of Cavendish, Inc. and the Lions Club of Hamilton, Inc. for agreeing to .postpone our Visitation because Malcolm was in hospital for a short period during October. Last month I wrote Malcolm and I were amazed at the many projects undertaken by you the Lions, Lioness’ and Leos of V2, we congratulate all Members & Clubs for their initiative, how fortunate are the Communities which fall into our Local, District and Global areas “thank you” for being a Member of the “Lions Family”. During October we visited our first Lioness’ Club “Deer Park” it was a pleasure to catch up with these hard working women and to see what they are working on this year within their Community. For the first time Deer Park Lioness Club have joined Anglesea Lioness Club in submitting reports for the Lioness’ Newsletter, this is definitely a step forward and everyone will be able to know what they do – Ladies a just well done, thank you. October saw Leos’ District Chairman Ken Johnston visit Lara Leos with me, a wonderful evening/meeting where we shared ideas and a meal pizzas/pastas. By the time you read this Newsletter it will have been my pleasure to induct the Leos new Executive while visiting the Lions Club of Lara. Thank you to Lara Leos for the work you do for your community plus the donations to Lions and your local Community. Induction of Lions still continues and all of us must remember to “look outside the square” make changes where necessary to bring our Members and Clubs out of the “dark ages”. It is necessary for us to be more “open minded” and to work together for the betterment of our communities, our clubs and our great organization – we need to move forward and bring in more members to take our total back to 1.4Million Lions we had a couple of years ago. We need to make sure our front door is open and our back door is closed. To all recipients of “Life Membership” what wonderful “human beings” each of you are I truly believe this is the greatest gift you will be given in Lions? It is a gift given to you by your “fellow” members, it acknowledges the work you do for your Club, Community and for Lions. It has been my great pleasure to meet as many of you as possible on our travels. Enjoy our Convention and to First Conventioneers I wish you an enjoyable, fun filled convention may each of you make many new life time friends over the three (3) days. Each year District Governor’s must promote the International President’s theme and this year International President Al Brandel’s theme is “Miracles through Service”, he enthusiastically calls you “every day heroes” – never has a statement been more correct. How fortunate are Malcolm and I to be meeting you all this year, what a gift we are receiving – thank you for everything you do in life to assist others. “Welcome to our Convention”, yes yours and mine being held in Edenhope this week. Please take the time to “thank” the Lions & Partners of Edenhope for their hard work. Taking the time to ... When time permits Lions there are many courses on the Lions International website which are available to you to enhance your knowledge. These training sessions are easily completed online with some taking fifteen/twenty minutes while others a fraction longer. They are there for your benefit, to help you improve your knowledge of Lions and Community Service. Any assistance required in any areas please remember your contacts are: - Cabinet Secretary Stewart, MERL Team Coordinator PDG Terry, Cabinet Treasurer PDG John and Vice District Governor Bob and last but not least myself.
