Lions International
District 201V5 Australia
District Governor David Jones welcomes you to his District in Victoria

Lions can take you many places in the world should you wish to travel. You meet many interesting people along the way.
Sue and I have been honoured to have represented your District of 201V5 at Club, District, Multiple District and International level. The first thing we had to do in joining Lions was to get out of our, “Comfort Zone.” We were able to get involved in our Club’s projects and serving our community.
Then we became aware of a slightly bigger picture by visiting other Clubs in our Zone, Region and District. The sharing of ideas in running Club meetings and projects, which prompted us to take on extra responsibilities at a District level. Neither of us had ambitions of becoming District Governor and once again we got out of our, “Comfort Zone,” and like many of our predecessors, believed we had something to offer our great District.
We are still enjoying the journey.
Our Lions Club of Clarinda nominated Sue for the City of Kingston Council’s Citizen of the Year Award which was presented at an Australia Day Breakfast hosted by the Council.
If we had not joined Lions, we would not have had that opportunity.

Nominated by the Lions Club of Clarinda, V5 PDG Lion Sue Owen was awarded the City of Kingston Citizen of the Year in an impressive Australia Day Breakfast on Saturday, 26th January, 2008 at Moorabbin. Lion Sue was recognised for her work with Lions Clubs International including the Lions Cord Blood Foundation, District Disaster Relief Trust and her ongoing work and commitment to Habitat for Humanity.
There have been many awards bestowed on outstanding citizens who have Lions in their background. This year in particular there were a large number of Lions recognised in Australia Day Honours list. Congratulations to all those Lions, you have done us proud.
Excellent Leadership training is in place for all Lions, whether it be as a Club President or an International President. District Governor training in Australia is recognised by Lions Clubs International as one of the best in the world.
We are well prepared by the leaders of Multiple District for the coming year as a District Governor which is followed by another training session prior to International Convention. The opportunity is there for all Lions.
You only need to get out of your, “Comfort Zone,” and
ENJOY THE JOURNEY.
