Albury Wodonga Carers Accommodation

The launch of Albury Wodonga Carers Accommodation Appeal took place at the Commercial Club in Albury on 23rd February.

Representatives from Lions 201V6, Rotary, CWA and Zonta were in attendance and it was very pleasing to see the large number of Lions Clubs represented at the function.

Two private donations of $25k were supplemented by $100k from Lions 201V6 and Rotary.

Interest in the project by Lions Clubs was very heartening and should auger well for fund raising over the coming months.

We need to take this project on with vigour to enable the building to be erected and in use as quickly as possible.

10 units will comprise the first stage and the units will be self contained. The number of units will increase to thirty and the building will contain community type facilities.

It will be a great asset to Albury Wodonga Health Care as far as regional and country people are concerned, making accommodation available to those requiring treatment and their carers.

Wangaratta Lions Help with Fencing

Recently seven Wangaratta Lions travelled to Rochester to help with fencing replacement and cleanup following the January floods.

With the help of the new District post driver, four Wang Lions plus two from the Rochester Club, 80 steel posts were driven in near record time. Next the wires were threaded through, (mostly in the right holes)! and strained to perfection.

While this was going on three Wang boys went to another farm cleaning rubbish off fences left from the flood. Both farmers were most appreciative of the assistance give by Lions. As one said,’ I would go down the paddock and just didn’t know where to start’.

A great days work, thanks to the Wangaratta Lions.
