Being able to mix with Lions from all over the world was an experience of a lifetime.
The varied languages were not an insurmountable difficulty.
Training with governors from all over the world breaks down a lot of barriers and makes a lot of new friends. The Christmas card lists of Rose and I has certainly grown a lot.
I would recommend that all Lions should aspire to attend an international convention. The entertainment by the Beach Boys, the address to the convention by General Colin Powell and the Humanitarian of the year award to Fr. Chris Riley was an event not to be forgotten.
The International President, Eberhard Wirfs and his wife Margit are an enthusiastic couple and will prove to be great ambassadors for the Lions movement.
We have a wonderful District full of enthusiastic and capable Lions. This was proved by the marvellous response to the bushfire emergency. Our assistance is still helping those affected.
My thanks to the Lions that have accepted cabinet positions and I expect they will do as well as the previous cabinet. My thanks to my home club, Barham-Koondrook, for their encouragement and support.
To all Lions in V6, my promise to serve you as well as I can. I look forward to my official visits to all clubs and any other special events that Rose and I can attend. I hope to see as many Lions as possible at the Corowa Convention.
My motto for the year is “Youth Our Future “
DG Alan and Lion Rose Millar
District Governor 2009 - 2010 Lion Alan Millar from Barham-Koondrook
Firstly let me thank the members of V6 for giving me the opportunity to be DG. The example set for me by the previous governors is certainly something to aim for.
The training and convention in Minneapolis exceeded all expectations.
