new Thurgoona and District Lions Club. IPDG Alan has been a wonderful ambassador for the District and for LCI and all 201V6 members should feel honoured to have worked with him.
Lions all over the world are recognised for the tremendous contribution to our communities and District 201V6 is no exception. You should take pride in the work you do and the way you serve because it is something you deserve. Please let us continue to do great things for the community and Shine a Light on Service while we have fun and enjoy the act of giving.
We are looking forward to what should be a great year. Members throughout the District will have the opportunity to learn more about Lions and the enormous amount of work we do as we serve our communities. LOOKING OUTSIDE THE CIRCLE is my theme for the year which means we need to look outside our town boundaries, outside our normal projects and outside our meeting agendas.
My vision is to increase membership knowledge of District, Multiple District and Lions Clubs International to enable all members to better serve the community, so I will be looking to our District Chairpersons for assistance in educating all members about the various grants and foundations, LCIF, ALF. ALDAF, VLF and others of which there seems not to be enough known. My next Vision is to develop membership strategies to enable recruitment of younger members, female members and junior members along with better retention of existing members. My next Vision is to expand Youth of the Year and Junior Public Speaking throughout the District as the young are our Lions members of the future.
I welcome new members to Cabinet and pay tribute to all Cabinet members for dedicating their time and effort to the coming year to serve alongside us as we strive to improve our service to the community. We aim to share our knowledge and experience with you the members, as we grow the District. Resources are available on the various web sites such as MD, District and LCI but Cabinet members are also a resource you can call upon any time and I feel certain all will assist or direct you to the correct place.
It has been a pleasure to work with you all this past year and Lion Mary and I are anticipating a fun time this year as we visit you all at your respective clubs and listen to your ideas, your plans and your individual community service projects. Remember that it is not what we get out of it but the joy of giving.
