Business Interests: Dairy Farmer since leaving school in 1951. 18 years on board of Murray Goulburn Dairy Co-Op.

Civic Interests: Alan has been on the board of many local organisations eg. Hospital Board, including some time as chairman.

Sporting Interests: Played cricket until age 67, Life Member of Koondrook Cricket Club, Life Member of Barham-Koondrook District Cricket Association. Played football with Murrabit and Koondrook , approx. 300 games.
