"Can
you put a price on this?"
In the calendar year just completed the Foundation funded 129
Walkers at a cost of $546,957.00. The grand total stands at 1111 walkers for
$6,581,765.00. This figure is misleading, in the early days only Hart
Walkers were recorded as they had an on-going commitment. Accordingly I
believe the total to be closer to $7m. A great effort from all supporting
Clubs, our dedicated District Chairman and Trustees.
The dollars
do not tell the full story. A child spending only a few hours a day in a
walker, in lieu of a whell-chair, experiences improved health and
self-esteem.
Health
-
Breathing is more effective as the diaphragm is less compressed.
-
Blood
circulation is improved due to activity and better breathing.
-
Muscle
development occurs with this activity.
-
Bone
density and joint development is improved due to activity and bearing
body weight.
-
Digestion and elimination are enhanced with the aid of activity and
gravity.
Esteem
-
Being
able to move over terrain independently.
-
Being
able to interact with peers at eye level.
-
Independent self confidence, which projects positives to all the family.

Your Foundation is a DGR tax deductible Charity. Instead of
individual Lions donating to a Non-Lions Charity, why not make a personal,
tax deductible donation to the A.L.C.M.F.? Don't hang about, the 30th June
is closer than you think. Why not tell your friends? We can certainly use
the funds. Children are still being born, some with disabilities. We fund
the walkers that seldom attract Federal or State Government funding. Without
our intervention these beautiful children may well be wheel-chair bound for
life. We can prevent this!.

you put a price on that?"
