Chairman’s Message
At the Annual General Meeting of the Australian Lions Children’s Mobility
Foundation in January 2009 I was privileged to become Chairman of the
Foundation. I have been a Trustee of N1, N3 and N5 since January 2006.
Outgoing Chairman Ray Dix has represented the Foundation tirelessly in his
role as Chairman and Trustee of C1 and C2 and for that we sincerely thank
him. Ray has now moved to the position of Registrar. Sadly, our previous
Registrar Bruce has been seconded overseas with employment. Secretary
Christine Forrest and Treasurer Tim Irvine have been on the Executive for
many years and continue their dedication to the Foundation.
We have two new Trustees and they are Vaal Dix who is representing C1 and C2
and Trevor Hirth who is representing V2 and V3. Trustee Kae Campbell (T1)
has signed on for another term. The other Trustees are Christine, Beverly,
Helen and Tim. Thank you Trustees for your passion and all the hard work you
carry out for the Foundation.
The Foundation was established in Brisbane in May 1999 and is a Category A
project. In May 2009 we will celebrate TEN YEARS! At the end of January
2009 I can report that since establishment we have donated –
-
486 Hart Walkers
-
673 Other Walkers
-
64 Ongoings
These figures reflect the dedication of our hard working Trustees, District
Chairmen and the humanitarian nature of our Lions, Lioness and Leos. We
have covered all Grant Applications requesting new equipment up to, and
including, June 2008. Sadly, the list of requests will continue to grow.
The investments of the Foundation will not grow as healthily this year, as
in the past, but sadly most families are in a similar situation because of
troubling financial times. However, I can assure you that your Trustees are
working diligently to keep costs low and protect investments.
The Foundation is just as relevant as it was in the beginning, even more
so. We are still growing. In these challenging times, the need to raise
funds for our special children will be ever more difficult, but we can,
and will, do this. However, we cannot do it without your help – our
fantastic District Chairmen and wonderful Lions, Lioness and Leos.
Lions, Lioness and Leos, it is in difficult times that we must become more
caring towards our fellow Australians. These times show those who have the
true Australian spirit.
