The production of an Administration Manual for Lions Clubs in Australia has proved to be a challenge in many ways. It is fair to say that our organization has never been short of good material for such a manual - the problem has been to gather such material together in one place and assemble it into a format which will be of some help to the average Australian Lions Club officer And having achieved that target, ensure that it is as up-to-date as is possible in a progressive organization. To "keep it up to date " is much easier said than done, and involves the extraction of new information from under many stones!

But the old adage "There is nothing new under the sun" was never truer than when applied to the development of this manual. We have extracted material from Lions Clubs International web pages and publications, and from the many excellent publications that Lions Districts around Australia have produced. To those who recognize some of that material as incorporated in these pages - a big thank-you. It would be impossible to acknowledge everyone. However there are a few members who have played a significant part in the development of this manual and they are due our grateful thanks. However there can be no substitute for updating your knowledge of Lionism by reading your copy of "The Lion", and watching the International and Multiple District 201 web pages.

The primary target for this manual is the happy band of volunteers who take office as Club Officers each year at the grass root level of Lions Clubs. We have tried to provide, in one place, the majority of the information you may need to run your club. In addition, we hope to have provided you with a summary of important information on the District, Multiple District, and International aspects of Lionism - too many of our members have little idea of the Association outside their own Club. Inevitably, there will be errors and omissions despite much care in the preparation - and if you come across any of these the Information Committee needs to hear from you - including your suggestions for useful additions. We have tried to preserve the right balance between detail and adequacy-this volume could readily have been twice the size.
