The Leo Club Program provides
Young People between 12 - 30 the chance to gain essential Life
Skills of Leadership, Experience and Opportunity whilst Serving
their Communities in a Positive way, making New Friends and
having Lots of Fun!!
Today's International Leo Club Program began with a Single Club
at Abington High School. Pennsylvania, USA, organized in 1957 by
the Glenside Lions Club. The First Leo Club in Australia was
formed in Ingham in 1968. In Australia and Papua New Guinea
there are currently 94 Leo Clubs registered with Lions Clubs
International.
In March 2006, the
International Board of Directors of Lions Clubs International
changed the Official Designation for Leo Clubs to a "Lions Clubs
Sponsored Affiliation" from a Lions Clubs Sponsored Activity".
The Change recognizes Leo Members Role as Young Leaders and
their Cooperative Relationship with Lions.
During fiscal year 2009-2010,
Lions Clubs International founded the Leo Club Program Advisory
Panel to provide Lions and Leos with a Formal Platform to share
their Program Feedback and suggestions. The Panel serves as the
Official Communication Vehicle for Lions and Leos and is
comprised of Lions and Leos from All Constitutional areas.
Leos are the future of our
Organization and when they Graduate from Leos are encouraged to
continue their Service through the Leo to Lion Program.
Our 2011/12 International
President Wing-Kun Tam believes that: "Leos are the Future of
our Family and therefore they Form a Vital Branch of our Family
Tree".
It is time to elevate
the significance of "Leos within our Family of Service."
