Dear Lions of Australia,
I've been following the tragic events that have recently taken place in Victoria, Australia, with a heavy heart. The loss of life, the loss of property, and the loss of natural resources as a result of this massive fire are too hard to comprehend. And now I understand among the loss of life are some Lions members.
LCIF is working with local Lions to respond to the devastating wildfires, and is working with Lions in Victoria to assess the situation and determine a course of action, as well as emergency needs.
Through LCIF, we have established an "Australian Wildfire Disaster" designated fund for donors wishing to contribute directly.
We have received calls and emails from Lions around the world expressing their sympathy, and asking what they can do to help.
Please know you are not alone in this moment of need, and that Lions everywhere offer their thoughts, prayers, and resources.
I am in direct contact with ID Ken Bird, and have also asked the staff at our international headquarters to keep me advised as this tragedy continues to unfold.
