We are very proud to be celebrating the
25th Anniversary of Lions Quest!
The celebration formally began at the recent LCI Convention in Minneapolis, and
will continue throughout the year. The objectives of our year-long celebration
activities are to:
-
Raise awareness among Lions about the Lions Quest program;
-
Increase funds for Lions Quest;
-
Educate Lions about the impact of the Lions Quest program;
-
Expand the Lions Quest program through funds raised.
Attached is an
English-language version of the 25th Anniversary brochure, which we are getting
translated into the other official LCI languages. A key component of the
celebration is fundraising; the brochure attached includes a donation form. We
highly encourage you to use this brochure to help raise funds for LCIF that will
be
specifically designated for the
expansion and promotion of Lions Quest worldwide.
In the coming weeks, we will be communicating with you about how to participate
in the celebration in your own country.
Two very successful
Lions Quest sessions
were held at the LCI Convention in Minneapolis in July. The sessions were well
attended with over 60 Lions each! Lions Quest also presented at the District
Governor Elect seminar to over 1500 Lions, and put together a Leo session on
service learning for over 60 Leos. All sessions received very high evaluation
marks.
Lions Quest sessions will be
held at the upcoming
Europa and USA/Canada Forums.
The Europa Forum session is on Friday, September 18th from 5:00-6:30pm. The
session will be conducted by PID Jorn Andersen of Denmark, IPCC Heidi Rantala
and LQ trainer Ulla Sirvio Hyttinen of Finland, and LQ Manager Jayne Westerlund.
There will be multiple sessions at the USA Canada Forum in Memphis. An
introductary session for District and Vice District Governors will be held from
9am-12pm on Wednesday, September 23. A "Next Steps" session for Lions Quest
chairpersons will be from 1-5pm on the same day, and there will be a general
Lions Quest session on Friday September 25 from 9:40-11:00am.
This fiscal year, we are
updating the
Lions Quest website,
and we want to have a more in-depth international section. Please let us know
what you would like to see on the international website. Would you be
interested in online forums, message boards, or social networking sites such as
Facebook and Twitter? We would love to see any
photos
you have of Lions Quest programs in your country, particularly of students
conducting service projects.
We are always looking for
evaluations of Lions Quest
conducted worldwide. If you have any evaluations or surveys of Lions Quest
programs in your country, please submit them to LCIF. Obviously, we would
prefer them to be in English, but if that is not possible we can have them
translated. We recently received evaluations from Norway and Denmark. Please
contact us if you want copies.
The next Core 4 deadline is
November 11, 2009,
and the meeting of the Lions Quest Advisory Committee is January 15, 2010. If
you plan to apply for a grant, please let us know so that we can assist you. It
works to your advantage to submit the application well in advance of the
deadline, to give LCIF staff plenty of time to work with you and revise your
application. Please note: the January meeting is the final meeting of this
fiscal year.
Please do not hesitate to
contact us if we may be of service to you in expanding Lions Quest in your
country. LCIF is here to help!
