Fellow Lions,

We are asking you to continue your support for the Lions Spinal Cord Fellowships. Some of you may have missed our name change from the Spinal Cord Society of Australia Inc. to StepAhead Australia Limited.

We are just as before, with the Lions Spinal Cord Fellowships still essential to bringing a cure to the paralysed who have injured their spine.

We are very excited with the progress made by our efforts and in combination with our strong links to outstanding programs overseas, are making great progress. We are putting the finishing touches to start our project at St Vincent’s in Melbourne. This is expected to treat people with their own cells.

Holden have been very generous in sponsoring a nation wide raffle in support of Lions projects. StepAhead who runs the Lions fellowship program to advance a treatment for Paralysis, was chosen for this year.

Unfortunately it is hard on the heels of the natural disasters in Victoria and Queensland that have taken so much of your time and energy. However, your support for this inaugural Holden raffle is needed. You and your club’s support is needed as much for this Holden sponsorship to go ahead for some other Lions cause next year, as it is for this great project. Please look to the hopes and aspirations of the 16,000 Australians, so many of them young adults, who confront their own personal disaster EVERY day.

Unless we push ahead with is program they will have to face the consequences of paralysis every day for the rest of their life.
