Welcome

To all our many friends in Australia and from around the world, Anne and I are very grateful for the support that you have given us which has seen me being elected to the position of International 2^nd Vice President.

We are very proud to be in this position as your representatives, but at the same time very humbled by the support and good wishes we have received.

When the announcement was made at the International Convention by the Chairman of the Elections Committee that I had been elected, the roar that came from the crowd was overwhelming and you could hear the Australians very clearly…..what can we say but……THANK YOU…….

It would be remiss of me not to thank and acknowledge my Campaign Committee chaired by PID Dr Bob Coulthard AM. They have worked tirelessly over the past few years in supporting me in my campaign and throughout the Convention. I would particularly like to thank all the volunteers who have assisted and helped the Campaign in Seattle. You did and absolutely wonderful job and it was great to see the green shirts everywhere we went in support.

I am honoured to be elected to this position and Anne and I will ensure that we represent each and every member of the Lion’s family to the fullest extent. This is an exciting but hectic journey for us as we take on the many challenges that are ahead.

At the conclusion of the Convention, I attended my first Board Meeting as a member of the Executive. It was a very busy meeting as you would imagine and a steep learning curve for me.

As International 2^nd Vice President I will have the responsibility for the Global Leadership Team as part of my role. Leadership and development has always been a very strong focus for me, so I am delighted that I will have the chance to work with so many Lions in this area. The Global Leadership Team (GLT) has only just been formed so there will be plenty of activity around this aspect of our organisation over the coming months. I am sure that everyone will work with them as we progress and deliver many new opportunities across our Lions family.

Once again, Anne and I would like to express our sincere appreciation to all who have supported us in the journey so far. It will be both and exciting and very busy time ahead but one that I am sure you will come along on that journey with us.
