History of the Life Membership

At the Annual General Meeting held at the Mount Gambier National Convention in 1983 a member suggested that we should elect a Life Member.

After a very enthusiastic discussion it was decided to accept the suggestion and the meeting voted to elect PIC Syd Packham as the first Life Member. Syd was a District Governor in 1955/56 and is the longest serving member of our Association.

Since the Annual Meeting in Mount Gambier a new Life Member is elected each year. Nominations are called from members in accordance with set criteria. The three Officers of the Association then examine the nominations and declare the new member at the Annual General Meeting.
