Past District Governors Association

Tasmania.  T.1.

The P.D.Gs Association of T.1 Tasmania was formed in 1999 at Campbell Town at a meeting called by District Governor Cliff Walters to discuss Re-Districting.

After the success of spending a social nigh together it was suggested by Past District Governor Phyl Batchelor that we should do this every year.  A quick ballot was taken and a Co-ordinator was elected in PDG Jack Allen, who was responsible to arrange the next years event.

The year 2000 event was held at Deloraine and was as successful as Campbell Town and was declared that it should continue.

The Social group was formed with some twelve P.D.Gs and as of to-day we have 18 fully paid up members who have all paid $5.00 for life membership.  The only other cost is on call to cover postage when needed.

The PDGs Association have just spent a very enjoyable week-end at Strahan on the West Coast of Tasmania.

Most members arrive on Friday afternoon and assemble at a local Bistro for a get-together meal and to catch-up with whats happened over the past year.

Saturday is arranged as a day tour if you want to anticipate, this year we had a 4X4 drive along the Ocean Beach, or a Gordon River Cruise, with some members doing their own thing to visit local attractions.

Saturday evening usually starts at 5-30pm with Pre-Dinner drinks and Nibbles in PDG Jack Allens room. We then proceed to our selected venue for the Annual dinner.  The incumbent District Governor of the day is invited to this dinner to address the meeting on any thoughts he has about the District, and to ask for any help in promoting a project for his year.

At the Weekend in Strahan PDG Jack Allen and Joan were honoured with a presentation for the continued 16 years as the co-ordinator.

Our next social week-end will be October 10th, 11th, 12th, in  2014 on Bruny Island

Any PDG is welcome to join with us if they are on holiday in Tasmania during this weekend. Everything is at your own cost.

All inquiries to PDG Jack Allen.
