What is Tools for Tradies

Many trades people have lost tools as a result of Victoria’s bush fire and the resulting da mage to homes, sheds and work vehicles. TFT matches local needs (damaged or destroyed equipment) to offers made nationwide. TFT wil l only handle offers of equipment used by trades people in the bush fire affected area.

How Tools for Tradies works

TFT connects offer to need by providing contact details of donors directly to applicants seeking assistance. TFT does not accept any donations. TFT does not receive or handle any donated material. TFT aims to accelerate and pro fessionalize assistance for fire-affected trades people, allowing tradespersons to more rapidly reenter the workforce.

What our applicants need to know

Applicants (affected individuals) submit lists of urgently required tools by:

1. Filling out the form on this page
or
2. Telephone to Alan Hayward of Whittlesea Lions Club on 03 9716 2008
or
3. Telephone to Rob Tunney from Blackburn North Lions Club on 0419 894 013.

Prior to matching, checks will be performed to verify the trade qualifications of applicants. All applicant details are strictl y confidential and used only for contact with TFT. Applicants should allow up to a month for matches to be made. Applicants can rev ise requests by making a second submission, headed with the word UPDATED REQUEST. Where a match is achieved, we ask that applicants contact donors within 48 hours, to confirm suitability. TFT takes no responsibility for outcomes from matching, delivery of materi al or its safety. TFT encourages all applicants to support local businesses wherever possible.

What our donors need to know

Anyone can offer to donate equipment. Donors make trade equipment offers on this same form above. A condition of donor participation is that you are happy for TFT to provide contact details to applicants whose need matches your offer. TFT takes no responsibility for outcomes from matching, delivery of material or its safety.

Important to note

Tools of trade are identified as a priority area. Plans are in place to address this. The government believes it is important to enable local tradespeople to engage in the reconstruction to provide a n income for them and obviously due to their connections to the community. We would encourage people who wish to assist bushfire af fected people to donate to local appeals, including ....
