“This trip has left me with many lasting memories about Japan. I had such an
enjoyable time with my host families there and made many friends that I most
certainly want to visit Japan again in the future”……….

Your Japan
adventure begins when you travel to your International point of departure from
Australia for perhaps an overnight stop where you will meet your chaperone and
fellow Lions Youth Exchangees. Upon everyone arriving at the stopover hotel, a
group photograph is arranged. After a relaxed dinner you receive your travel
documents, name badge, Youth Exchange pins and some last minute information at a
pre-departure seminar. Then it’s early to bed to be ready bright and early the
following morning for your departure to the International Airport of departure.
Your chaperone
will assist you to check your baggage and receive seat allocation and then off
for some last minute duty free shopping before you board your international
flight to your first port of call, Osaka.
On arrival at
the Osaka airport you will meet members of the Japan Youth Exchange Lions who
will conduct an orientation seminar. Depending on where your first host family
is situated you will either travel to meet them or enjoy an overnight stay at a
hotel in Osaka.
The
exchange is for approximately 6 weeks during the Australian School Holidays
departing early December and returning mid January. Six weeks of exciting new
experiences in a new country, living with a host family sharing their everyday
life and learning a new culture. You can expect to have two host families for a
period of three weeks each, or in some cases more host families for a shorter
time with each.
Living with the
first Host Family you will experience the excitement and a different culture and
lifestyle, transferring to your next host family shortly after Christmas.
You may be lucky
enough to be successful in being selected as a participant in a one week
International Youth Camp as a guest of the Japanese Lions Youth exchange
program.
All
host families undergo rigorous security checks and you can be assured you will
be in safe hands. Many Host families are also Lions Club members.
At
the end of your stay you travel back to Osaka to meet up with the rest of the
group for your flight home.
The
Program Cost includes almost everything including - Pre-departure accommodation
in Sydney and associated seminars. International Air Fares, Airport Taxes,
Travel/Medical Insurance, all internal travel within the host country, and
Administration charge, Lions Youth Exchange Backpack, name badge and Lions Youth
Exchange Trading Pins.
All
Lions Youth Exchangees are required to wear the Youth Exchange uniform which
includes a navy and green Lions Youth Exchange Polo Shirt and a Youth Exchange
Polar Fleece top, smart jeans or Navy slacks, Black shoes.
You
need to nominate through your local Lions Club to apply for the Lions Youth
Exchange Program. If you are unable to make contact with the local Lions Club
you will need to contact the Lions Youth Exchange Program Chairman to establish
a contact.
Applications for Youth Exchange must be made through your local Lions Club and
be received by the 30th June with a $500 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit. An
earlier application will ensure that your choice of country will gain
preference.
We
suggest $1,200 - $1500 for spending money and gift buying.
Departs early December. Returns Mid January. Approximate Cost $3300
